Documentation #3299
closedrgw: docs should be clearer about fastcgi module
0%
Description
Docs don't really mention where to get the fastcgi module. Also, the fastcgi should also mention that it fixes chunked encoding (besides 100-continue).
Updated by Ken Dreyer about 9 years ago
We should stop recommending mod_fastcgi to users.
Older distros that ship Apache 2.2:- For RHEL 6, the mod_proxy_fcgi package is present in EPEL 6.
- For Ubuntu 12.04 ("Precise") there is a bug open to track its inclusion https://bugs.launchpad.net/precise-backports/+bug/1422417
- For SLES11 and Debian stable ("Wheezy", 7.7) there are no bugs open.
On newer distros that ship Apache 2.4 (such as RHEL 7 or Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty"), the mod_proxy_fcgi module is already present.
See the related discussions in #10551 "test RGW with mod_proxy_fcgi instead of mod_fastcgi" and #10808 "Must build packages for mod_proxy_fcgi for all distros".

- Status changed from New to Closed
This bug has been judged too old to fix. This is because either it is either 1) raised against a version of Ceph prior to Luminous, or 2) just really old, and untouched for so long that it is unlikely nowadays to represent a live documentation concern.
If you think that the closing of this bug is an error, raise another bug of a similar kind. If you think that the matter requires urgent attention, please let Zac Dover know at zac.dover@gmail.com.
