3Still haven't gotten in on teuthology (soon!), but I did some local upgrade testing. I was able to upgrade from master to this branch just by restarting the MDS without trouble, but when I restarted it again I hit a bad log event that I need to look into.

Okay, that was an easy bug to fix. Hurray!
(The LogEvent encoding was off a little bit.)
Running it through another upgrade test, then spinning off teuthology jobs on it once the fixed version builds.

After an fs suite run passed all tests except for libcephfs-java (which was known bad at the branch point), iogen which was marked as "hung" but was known to never end at the branch point, and fsx which passed fine on a re-run (we lost the original "hang", and these changes are the sorts of things that introduce catastrophic failures, not subtle oens) — I decided it was ready and Sage approved it for merge.
