Description
The version of udev in Ubuntu Saucy and higher does not generate /dev/disk/by-path entries for ATA disks.
This udev managed directory is used by ceph-disk to detect block devices and partitions; so on systems that use ATA disks (which includes virtualized instances on OpenStack) ceph-disk fails.
I took a look at this; switching to by-id might work but I'm not close enought to this tool to understand the full impact of making this change.
