Bug #4865

ceph-disk: activate fails on debian wheezy due to missing udev by-partuuid rules
Added by Sage Weil about 11 years ago.
Updated almost 11 years ago.
Description
it fails because wheezy has no /dev/disk/by-partuuid. we either need to install our own rules for that, or work around it similar to what we do with centos.

(02:09:23 PM) sagelap1: paravoid: looks promising..
(02:09:27 PM) sagelap1: will get fix get into wheezy?
(02:09:46 PM) sagelap left the room (quit: Read error: Connection reset by peer).
(02:10:17 PM) paravoid: I wouldn't give it high chances, but it might be able to creep in if there's other serious enough changes that need to happen on wheezy
(02:10:23 PM) paravoid: let's see what the maintainer will say
(02:10:46 PM) paravoid: however, if I understand that patch well, you could ship your rules files that have the rules without the ID_ part
(02:10:54 PM) sagelap1: well we can safely ship a || rule with th ewrong ID_ name
(02:10:55 PM) sagelap1: :)
(02:10:57 PM) sagelap1: yeah
(02:11:01 PM) paravoid: this would make them compatible with udev < 178
(02:11:07 PM) paravoid: and they'd be just ignored on >= 178
(02:11:25 PM) paravoid: since there isn't going to be any PART_ENTRY_{NAME,UUID} there
(02:11:32 PM) paravoid: so, win
(02:11:39 PM) sagelap1: yay

paravoid says it's specific to wheezy.. the udev rules are different than upstream.
moving the by-partuuid below the blkid probe fixes it.

tested with cuttlefish branch on burnupi26, still seeing the same issue
- Status changed from In Progress to Resolved
you were on 0.61.2... the udev fix was 2 patchs after that. tested after doing install --dev=cuttlefish and it worked. so this'll get fixed for real for ppl with teh next cuttlefish point release...
