Description
I'm not sure what level the issue exists at, but attaching an RBD snapshot using virtio makes it look read-write on a Linux guest! Thanks to the block cache, writes even appear to go through temporarily, but end up disappearing later… this makes filesystems all kinds of unhappy.
Read-write snapshots may be necessary anyway, as a lot of filesystems (including ext3/4) demand to write to the disk during remount of a dirty FS (such as a snapshot).
