Description

Add a chapter on backports and stable releases

  • Development releases and stable releases
  • Named branches (argonaut, bobtail, etc.)
  • Newest named branch is the next major release
  • Features to master, bugfixes to newest named branch
  • Every other named branch is a "Long Term Stable" release
  • How releases are retired - link to Release Timeline http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/releases/
  • Fixing bugs in stable releases
  • Backporting workflow
