https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/26741 and https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/27035 need to be backported as discussed in https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/27742.
There are no issues for these two PRs on the tracker, that's why I'm opening the backport manually.

The backport does only include the changes made by https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/27035 because https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/26741 was already part of nautilus.
