[22:20] <JoeGruher> i can run 'ceph osd pool set <pool_name> pgp_num <num>' without needing the --allow-experimental-feature switch... is that out of date?
[22:21] <mrjack_> well it seems to be that the documentation is out of date :(
[22:23] <pmatulis> mrjack_: open a documentation bug
[22:24] <dmick> what documentation?
[22:25] <mrjack_> dmick: http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/pools/ does not really explain it , it links to http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/placement-groups/ and here there is: To set the number of placement groups in a pool, you must specify the number of placement groups at the time you create the pool.
[22:26] <dmick> oh you mean the documentation doesn't imply that you can change the number of PGs after creation. I thought you meant --allow
[22:26] <dmick> yes please file an issue

There is also a bug in ceph that after changing pg_num and pgp_num of a pool will display incorrect results on ceph -w output regarding the used size, which should also be fixed.

IMO http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/pools/ should also be updated in the "set" section to specifically explain you can increase the number of pgs after pool creation. That'd help aleviate a lot of confusion, if it was just right there in the pool commands.
