Description

Remove the capability of the dashboard to pull information about firing alerts from the alertmanager, as pulling is not used in the cephadm setup, cannot be used for an HA setup and is increasing the complexity of the code, by, for instance, deduplicating firing alerts when an alertmanager instance is configured in ceph dashboard alongside a single (or more) alertmanagers that push the information of firing alerts.

One benefit of pulling the information of firing alerts in a setup with a single instance, though, would be that the configuration is simpler, as the alertmanager does not need to be configured to connect to Ceph Dashboard and it would suffice to configure one alertmanager instance in Ceph Dashboard.

Feel free to discuss/object.

We've talked about this in our stand-up and concluded to proceed with this clean-up, though, as a first step, we should announce that this functionality will be removed in octopus, before it is being removed, by adding this information into the Ceph Dashboard documentation first.
