Just adding a note here to say that we've encountered this problem (or a very similar one, see https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/38724#note-26) on Luminous; I believe it's previously been reported on Nautilus only.

I would appreciate a bit more information on what "non-trivial backport" means in this context, if possible. If this doesn't get fixed in Luminous, then users essentially have two options (as far as I can tell), which is either to upgrade to Nautilus (when this fix has landed there), or to stay on Luminous but go back to FileStore for the time being.
