Documentation #22160
opendocs: Cache Tier page has not been updated for Luminous
0%
Description
In http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/erasure-code/ , it says that "Since Luminous, partial writes for an erasure coded pool may be enabled with a per-pool setting.". However, in http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/cache-tiering/, it says that "..., and because small writes are not yet supported by the erasure-coded pool" in the "KNOWN BAD WORKLOADS" section.
It seems that partial write is already supported in luminous. Maybe we should update the documentation of Cache Tier and tell users whether "RBD with replicated cache and erasure-coded base" is still a bad use-case.

Just using RBD directly on an EC-overwrites pool will perform better than using a cache tier in the vast majority of cases. But it is indeed an inconsistency; patches welcome! ;)
