I’m fairly certain we have a bad motherboard here. It won’t POST with just the cpu, 1 stick of ram and fans. CPU (opteron 4184) and ram (4x 4G dimms) worked in another machine. There’s no post code or anything from the LCD, just the amber light and it doesn’t go far enough for me to access the SEL. Unfortunately the machine’s out of warranty since october of last year and I don’t have any spare motherboard here.
Dell part # for the motherboard is 3X0MN. I don’t know how much dell charges for it but the going rate for used ones on ebay is around $500
