Redmine Ceph - Documentation #6107 (Resolved): Broken link on upgrade dochttps://tracker.ceph.com/issues/61072013-08-23T12:39:33ZRoss Turkross@inktank.com

There is a broken link in the doc at http://ceph.com/docs/next/install/upgrading-ceph/

The broken link is: http://ceph.com/docs/next/rados/deployment/ceph-deploy-transition
devops - Bug #5475 (Closed): ceph-deploy deb install breaks on i386 due to missing python-pushy p...https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/54752013-06-27T13:38:45ZRoss Turkross@inktank.com

We're not building python-pushy for i386, so attempts to apt-get install ceph-deploy fail:

Ceph-deploy - Bug #5474 (Resolved): ceph-deploy osd create host:/path/to/osd does not activatehttps://tracker.ceph.com/issues/54742013-06-27T13:35:15ZRoss Turkross@inktank.com

When using osd create host:disk, it does prepare+activate. When you do it against host:path, though, it prepares and does not activate. Possibly because there's no hotplug event?

Suggest making it behave the same for paths & disks. Alternatively, could document the difference.

Workaround: Call osd activate after osd create (or use prepare->activate instead).
Ceph - Documentation #3412 (Resolved): doc: update main page arch diagramhttps://tracker.ceph.com/issues/34122012-10-25T17:20:29ZRoss Turkross@inktank.comCeph - Documentation #3411 (Resolved): doc: add introductory detail to the main doc page (index.rst)https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/34112012-10-25T17:16:58ZRoss Turkross@inktank.comCeph - Documentation #3394 (Resolved): doc: create documentation for ceph-deployhttps://tracker.ceph.com/issues/33942012-10-23T17:18:29ZRoss Turkross@inktank.comCeph - Documentation #3393 (Resolved): doc: clarify process for setting replicashttps://tracker.ceph.com/issues/33932012-10-23T15:46:10ZRoss Turkross@inktank.com

Under Set Pool Values, it suggests that you can use "ceph osd set {pool-name} size {value}". Under Set the Number of Object Replicas, it repeats the same instructions. We should add a note under Set Pool Values that says more detail can be found in the Set the Number of Object Replicas section.

The list of pool values you can get is different from the list of pool values you can set. Shouldn't they match?

There is documentation around how to make a snapshot of a pool and remove one, but nothing on how to revert to a snapshot. Is this an omission? (from Wido)

There are three bucket algorithms (uniform, list, tree, straw), but they aren't explained

This page could use a bit more detail on the nature of the integration and how to use it. For example, why would someone want to create a RBD image using qemu-img create instead of rbd create? I think that step-by-step instructions can be left for a more in-depth guide, but the docs could use context.
