Print out more useful messages in case if incorrect distros links were used

Description

We had a case when for the new upgrades tests were added and in yaml configurations distros links were incorrectly specified (dead symbolic links).

Tests failed, collections list were empty, but no useful information was printed out in the logs.

We need to add more print outs to help in case like this.

I used "incorrect distros links" as an example only, we need to add error conditions info for empty conditions in lists like 'collections'.
