Description

Compilers like GCC and clang are sometimes able to make suggestions when a user makes certain
common mistakes for which the intent can be guessed at. Since usability is important, it might
be worth investigating this idea for the ceph command line tool.

For example, if an OSD process is running, the "osd purge" command could suggest that the user kill
the process and try again.

Such messages could be gradually integrated.

This is completely reasonable as a general point, but not really actionable as a tracker ticket -- we aren't ever going to be able to close the ticket unless we're somehow sure we've thought of all possible corner cases.

I'd encourage you to keep opening tickets for specific cases that have obvious room for improvement, and I'm going to modify this ticket to track the specific example you brought up.
